Abject

by Lili Davies

“ABJECT”: Something that is neither subject nor object, but rather something that disturbs identity, system and order.
- Julia Kristeva
ABJECT is a collection of six unique, queer experiences across Aotearoa. This newly published photobook combines handwritten interviews and film photography to understand how societal norms and subjection can shape queer identities, self-perception and experiences. Lili Davies is a Design student at Victoria University of Wellington. Specializing in graphic design, photography, and sculptural art, Lili explores identity, queerness and representation through diverse creative mediums.
