About the event

Join us for an exciting evening to launch Michael Szabo's new book, Wild Wellington Ngā Taonga Taiao: A guide to the wildlife and wild places of Te Upoko-o-te-Ika, published by Te Papa Press.

This event is a part of the Verb Readers and Writers Festival 2024.

Mayor Tory Whanau will be launching the book.

This handy and informative illustrated guide highlights the best wild and urban places to discover and explore the region’s natural diversity, from the South Coast to Kāpiti.

Wild Wellington lets you in on the best places and times of year to experience everything from migrating birds to seals hauling out, dolphin pods and orca in the harbour to the recovery of once-threatened native bird species in action, the region’s special flowering plants to the oldest native trees, and the conservation efforts that ensure that our local wildlife survives and flourishes.

Join us for an evening celebrating the ‘natural capital’ of Aotearoa New Zealand: Wild Wellington.
